On Sunday the Budapest Fair begins once again with a gala classical music concert in Heroes' Square. This year too the programme consists of pieces by four outstanding young composers. Their compositions will be performed by Kornél Fekete-Kovács's Modern Art Orchestra with guest performances by four well known Hungarian jazz musicians. The composers: Kristóf Bacsó, Kornél Fekete-Kovács, Nikoletta Szőke, Gábor Winand The soloists: Gábor Bolla, Gábor Juhász, Nikoletta Szőke, Gábor Winand
This year the Summer by the Chain Bridge programme series is being held on the Pest Embankment under a slightly different name and the date is also slightly different: this year we can enjoy summer in the Inner City from July 3. During the day there will be a series of classical music, world music and children's programmes, and in the evenings there will be lots of concerts. On the first weekend popular productions, orchestras made up of actors, improvisation theatre companies and performances for children will bring the magic of theatre to the open-air stages. On the following six weekends, right up to August 15, fans of classical music, folk music, jazz, world music, folk and light music will find an abundant choice of cultural programmes. The festive atmosphere would not be complete without the crafts stands and the all-day productions of street performers, and if the summer heat makes you tired you are sure to find refreshment in one of the hospitality pavilions. On the seven weekends of the festival a photo exhibition linked to cultural life in Budapest can be seen on the north side of the Chain Bridge. Anyone passing that way can vote for the one they like best and if they are lucky they could even win theatre tickets.
