Fabien Tehericsen’s work represents a unique duality: it is partly based on a fixed or traditional score, partly on improvisation. While the soloist is entirely free to improvise, the orchestra plays from written music, albeit without exact tempo or dynamical markings. The soloist’s and the conductor’s combined improvisation makes for a unique and unrepeatable performance every time.
